Duration
454 days
Level
Apprenticeship

Overview

A bricklayer’s primary responsibility on the job is to lay bricks for the foundations of new buildings and structures. This can involve measuring areas to determine how much materials they need, cutting and trimming bricks by hand or with equipment and strategically placing bricks in the correct locations on a building site. A bricklayer who works in large structures might have experience with special types of bricks that they use to line appliances like furnaces or boilers. Bricklayers can also help maintain existing brick structures by visiting sites and engaging in restoration, cleaning or painting bricks that need repairs.
